Detection of Fusarium wilt on Local Bananas in Pandeglang
bananas or Panama disease, caused by Tropical Race4 (TR4), threatens the global banana industry. In Indonesia, disease devastated Cavendish, an export variety, and many local bananas, such as Pisang Raja, Kepok, Barangan. Nonetheless, TR4 incidence is unknown parts Indonesia. This study aimed to detect from Pandeglang, most banana-produced area Banten Province. A survey was conducted nine Kecamatan i.e., Banjar, Cadasari, Jiput, Labuan, Menes. total, 13 accessions showed symptoms fusarium wilt. Symptomatic pseudostem samples were plated potato dextrose agar. The monosporic culture derived isolation used for morphological identification DNA extraction. Based characteristics Fusarium, 27 strains members 3 species complexes identified, F. cugenangense, foetens dan oxysporum (Fusarium complex; FOSC), equiseti incarnatum incarnatum-equiseti complex) solani complex, currently named Neocosmospora). Molecular detection done using duplex PCR translation elongation factor-1α (Tef-1α) primer specific, giving positive results only strains, FOSC. enhances our knowledge spreading unidentified Many Pandeglang susceptible TR4, thus threaten cultivation this area. Further molecular analysis more genes will give insight into expanding genetic diversity causing Banana Indonesian collection.

The methanolic extract of Musa ABB cv Pisang Awak was investigated for the polyphenolic contents and antioxidant activity. The total phenol and flavonoid contents of the fruit extract were found to be 120 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE) and 440 mg quercetin equivalents (QE)/100 g of sample dry weight, respectively. The antioxidant activity of the Pisang Awak methanol extract (PAME) (20-500 mic...
